Performance Focused Physical Therapy

Westhampton Beach, NY

Our Mission

Move Better. Get Stronger. Return Confident.

At Active Pursuit Physical Therapy, we help active adults and athletes recover from injury, build strength, and return to the activities they enjoy — without shortcuts or generic programs.

Every session is delivered one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy in a fully equipped strength and conditioning facility, allowing for seamless progression from rehabilitation to performance.

Rather than short, high-volume visits, sessions are intentionally unrushed and focused on understanding how you move, what your goals are, and what it will take to safely return to the activities you enjoy.

A Performance-Focused Approach to Physical Therapy

Performance physical therapy goes beyond symptom relief. Our process focuses on addressing the underlying movement, strength, and capacity limitations that contribute to pain, injury, and recurring issues.

Care emphasizes movement quality, targeted manual therapy, progressive loading, and preparation for real-world and sport demands. This approach is especially effective for individuals who want to return to training, sport, or an active lifestyle with confidence.

    One-on-One Sessions

We work one on one for the entirety of each session. Our focus is getting the most out of each session to maximize results.

    Root Cause- Whole Body Focused

We don’t just treat symptoms, we take a whole body approach to identify the root cause of what is really limiting your movement or performance, so you come back stronger than before.

How We Evaluate & Track Your Progress

At Active Pursuit, every athlete begins with a comprehensive evaluation designed to understand the full picture — not just the area that hurts.

Our process is structured, objective, and performance-driven.

  • Injuries are rarely isolated to one joint.

Your evaluation includes a structured, head-to-toe assessment examining:

    • Joint mobility
    • Muscle strength
    • Movement mechanics
    • Load tolerance
    • Contributing areas above and below the injury

This helps identify root causes and build a plan that restores durability and performance — not just temporary relief.

  • We use technology and validated testing methods to remove guesswork and measure progress precisely.

    These may include:

Handheld dynamometry to accurately measure muscle strength and force production
Digital inclinometers to measure joint range of motion with accuracy
Surface EMG biofeedback to assess muscle activation patterns
Motion capture analysis to evaluate movement mechanics
Validated functional performance tests specific to your injury and sport

Instead of relying on subjective impressions, we track measurable data to guide decision-making and reduce reinjury risk.

  • Progress is measured — not assumed.

    Throughout your plan, we reassess:

    • Strength
    • Mobility
    • Movement quality
    • Symptom response
    • Sport-specific capacity

Your program evolves based on how you are progressing — not just a standard timeline.

  • Pain relief is step one. Prepared return is the goal.

Before clearance, we use a battery of tests specific to:

    • The injured region
    • The physical demands of your sport
    • Position-specific needs when applicable

Testing may include strength symmetry, power output, deceleration control, endurance capacity, and movement quality analysis.

Return-to-sport decisions are based on objective benchmarks — not just how things feel.

Care is individualized based on the demands of daily life, training, or sport rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol.
